Hi...I have 7 buttons on Slide 1 of my project that I have displayed for the "Rest of Project".  These items Tab correctly on Slide 1 when viewing the project.  However, on the rest of the Slides, the first item in the TAB order gets moved to the last item in the TAB order.  Has anyone seen this issue?  Do you know how to fix it?

No answer yet? I can only offer what I suspect: this may be due to the timing for the rest of the project. Captivate may remember which was the last press from the previous slide.

I tested this theory but it does not seem to matter what was last clicked.  Frustrating!

This has been an issue, we've resorted to placing the buttons on every slide if it need to be 508 compliant.

Thanks for your response!

Come on Adobe!?!?!?!?    I have used this same approach many times and it has worked perfectly and now it does not??? I am using version 11.5.5.676...the latest from what I can tell.   I am SO ready for a new version of Captivate that is truly a program that can build Accessible courses.....without the huge struggle!  It needs better read order controls, a cleaner approach to controlling buttons/code, and the program needs to not be so HEAVY! What it really needs to be is a true Adobe product.  Not something that they have been building on the same platform for years and years.  I feel like Adobe has given up on the 2019 release.

A quick update....I think I solved the issue.  Three of my buttons that I am using across ALL Slides were not set to "Place object on top".  Once I set this then the order stayed consistent across all screens.  You might take a look at one of your problems courses and see if this fixes it for you.  Would be good to know.

Although this is way late and I know the new version is out..for the benefits of those still using Captivate 2019/Classic, I had the same issue.  I had the same issue noted above with my custom playbar/buttons.  The above solution did not work since they were all set to "Place object on top." However, I noticed the tab order was in the order that I pasted the buttons. Once I cut the buttons and repasted them in the tab order I wished them to follow, it worked for all other slides.  One other notable bug, some of my buttons had Advanced Actions associated with them.  Any time I cut/paste buttons with Advanced Actions, Captivate crashes so if that applies to you, remove the Advanced Actions before cutting and pasting and then reassign afterwards.

I am a bit worrying about the claim about copy/paste buttons with advanced actions. For sure that is not a normal behavior, you can even copy/paste between projects. It has to be linked with the exact content of your advanced actions. For that reason I always recommend to use Shared actions whenever possible, because it avoids editing duplicate advanced actions by allowing to use parameters.

I was just commenting that if I want to make a copy of an existing button that has an Advanced Action attached to it, Captivate crashes if I try to paste it. In the example above, I was just trying to temporarily cut the button so I could paste it back in the desired order.  However, it has happened to me in other circumstances as well when I tried to copy an existing button with an Advanced Action attached and then paste it elsewhere. My goal in those instances was to assign another action to the button after pasting it but I just wanted a duplicate copy of the button.  If I remove the Advanced Action, it works fine.  I then have to reassign the Advanced Action to the button when completed.

Sorry to insist that it is not a normal behavior, and my nickname used to be 'Queen of Advanced actions'. I never had that problem. Copy/paste may result in having some actions being replaced by Continue because something is missing in the new location, or perhaps renaming of objects, but crashing?  It is not normal, Can you show me a screenshot of such an advanced action (preferably the Preview window)?

I am sure it is not normal but it frequently happens to me when copying buttons. I have to often remove the Advanced Action before copying or it crashes when I paste.  I attached a short video to show you an example if that helps. I used cut and paste in the demo but the same thing happens with copy and paste. It does not happen all the time but happens fairly often.  There is probably some criteria in the Advanced Action that is contributing but this one is just to turn the Closed Captioning on and off. Thanks again for your help

I don't understand what is wrong with your setup, probably a labeling issue.  That is another reason why I always use a Shared action like the one described in this blog post:

Multiple Toggle buttons with ONE Shared Action - eLearning (adobe.com)

That same action can be used for a lot of buttons not only for the CC Toggle.
