Table of Content disappears at random in Captivate 6

The right skin bar is visible on a template slide in one module, but not on the same (objectives) slide when the project was saved and I haven't modified that slide yet.  In the completed one, it doesn't show the bar on the objectives slide and various others (again, randomly), but on the one I've just started using the same deck, the bar is there on the objectives slide, but not on others...  Any suggestions?

I've already tried:

completely removing the frame

seeing if it happens with a generic border - it still does

took out the session objectives slide thinking that was what was causing the problem - it wasn't

resized and moved everything away from the right side AND checked for any hidden objects that might be kicking it out

I don't have any movies or animation in this deck as it is just the intro module and therefore, just information.

I'm open to any and all suggestions!!

Thank you,

Kristy

I don't understand your question, probably because of the terminology. What do you mean by the 'skin bar', is that one of the default playbars, and if yes, which one? What do you mean by 'right'? Maybe show a screenshot?

What do you mean by a 'template slide'? A template in Captivate is a cptl-file. Are you talking about a slide in a cptl-file that you used to base this cptx-file on? Or are you talking about a master slide? Normally a master slide will not show a playbar, you see why I'm totally puzzled?

What do you mean by 'removing the frame'? Is it removing a slide (each slides plays at a Frames Per Second speed of 30)?

Generic border? Is that a default playbar while the first 'right skin bar' is a custom navigation panel?

What is so special about that 'session objectives slide'?

Apologies for the confusion...  I thought the session objectives slide might have been causing the issue because it has a large graphic in the master that I thought MIGHT be going over too far to the right (like when your mouse is too far over in a video capture and kills the frame line), however, this is not the case as that slide funtions fine in a different version.

The background of the slides I'm using are from an existing cptl.  Here is a screen shot of what I mean by skin bar (or frame).  The right one is periodically disappearing from slides.  I tried using a the captivate default skin, but the right bar disappears from that as well.  I don't have anything too close that would interfere with the bar (I even moved all of the text boxes and graphics to the far left, but it still didn't show.

Here you can see the missing bar:

It almost appears that it is cut off, but you can tell it isn't because the playbar is not truncated...

Hope this helps clarify and you have a solution!!

Thank you,

Kristy

My own guess here is that it's related to the collapsing TOC.

OK, so your 'right skin bar' is the Table of Content and from the screenshot I detect that it is set in Overlay. When opening a project, it is normal that the TOC is hidden, the user can open in using the TOC button in the playbar (which is the name used for the horizontal control bar you have at the bottom) or by using the Expand button top right (two arrows). When the TOC is open it can be closed the same way, the button with the two arrows is now called the Collapse button (arrows pointing in the other direction). Both buttons can be replaced by custom buttons.

The border you are indicating has nothing to do with the TOC at all. I presume that you are newbie to Captivate? That was why your terminology is to me very confusing. You can have borders around the slide. The bottom border is by default set to a certain width if you use a playbar to allow this playbar to display (it needs some space).

You could have the TOC open by default, but that requires an action On Enter for the first slide. Maybe too complicated, hope you don't mind me recommending to watch or take some training? Captivate needs learning time, it is not just a word processor that you can use like a typewriter (which is not efficient but you can create a text).

Actually, I'm not new to Captivate, just don't know the terminology I guess.  I did figure it out.  There was a hidden object in the slide title box that was just far enough over that it was keeping the frame (not the TOC) from showing.  Thanks for all your assistance!
