Text Captions not showing

I am using Captivate 9 and I am having an an issue with Text Captions appearing during a Preview.

I have a slide with a few transparent text captions that appear at varying times during the Timeline.  When playing the Text-to-Speech audio through the Timeline play button, all of the text captions appear / hide at the different times they have been set to.

  • The first text caption shows during the timeline and then hides 8 seconds later while the second text caption appears.  The third and forth text captions appear when they are supposed to show.  All of the text captions hide when they are supposed to and the next object enters on the time that it has been assigned.
  • at 49 seconds, all of the text captions and a background hide to expose 5 buttons (for further links to be accessible).

When I go to Preview the Project or the Next 5 Slides to see how things go, issues with showing and hiding of text captions / objects occur.

  • The first text caption appears during the timeline as it should.
  • As the audio is playing, the second, third and forth text captions doe not appear as they were assigned to do.
  • The text captions that were supposed to show (and never did) do not hie; the background that was supposed to hide at the same time does not hide either.
  • With the background not hiding, the 5 hidden buttons do not appear.

While in the Preview of the slide, after the audio has played and the text and objects have not performed as they should have done, I can advance the place on the play bar and the text captions will show and hide, the background hides and the buttons appear.

I have played with this slide, looked over and over to see what would cause an issue like this to occur, but can't see anything that would cause it.

I wanted to see if anyone could give me a suggestions on what could be causing the issues that I am seeing during the Preview of the Project.

Play Slide is NOT a preview method, is only meant to be used to synchronize items but will never show how the course will look hen published. You need to use the real Preview methods, in Browser or HTML in Browser are the closest to the real output.

I suspect you have an interactive object on the slide that is pausing the slide. That will not pause the audio unless you marked it to do so, which explains what you are seeing when Previewing. Could you please post a screenshot of the Tmeline panel?

I went back in to get a copy of the Timeline for posting and saw that one of the hidden buttons had a Pause After on it....  I removed the clicked box in the Timing and it took care of the problem.

Thanks for the response and request for the Timeline screenshot.  I gave me a direction on finding the issue.

Thanks for reporting back, this is very often the cause of the described problem.
