The action drop down menu is only showing the default action of Go to the next slide and there are no other action options.

I can't add any actions to my buttons besides the default action. The action drop down menu is only showing the default action of Go to the next slide and there are no other action options.  Hit the drop down menu and nothing happens.

I am using Captivate 9, version 9.0.2.437 . Running on a MacBook OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like corruption. Can you confirm that Captivate is NOT installed on a network drive but on your system? Are the paths in Preferences, General, pointing to folders on your system, not on a network?

Did you try to reset the workspace? If you are in the newbie UI, you have only Classical, but it can be reset.

Do you clear cache regularly (there is a button in Preferences, will clear cache except for the open projects)?

When installing the last patch, did you follow the Release notes: deleting some public/shared folders and cleaning the Preferences?

The drop down action still doesn't work.

I just got a new machine so it's a new Captivate install. I've used Captivate in the past on another machine with the same specs and it worked.

I did check all of the items listed above. It's installed on my desktop in the Applications folder, and all folders point to my system, cleared cache etc.

Any other suggestions?

No idea, if you have done everything I recommended. Do you have the commands available in the Advanced Actions dialog box? You can open it from Project menu.

Yes i can see those commands. Just when i select a button i can't apply those commands or any of the default actions. Sounds like my install is corrupt . I had uninstalled and installed twice now, in hopes that the second install would work, but still the same issue.

Very frustrating.

Did you clear the Preferences before reinstalling?
