The millionaire widget won't show when I preview or publish, it loads and then the screen goes white - any ideas?

I'm trialling the product at the moment and I want it to work but I can't view the 'who wants to be a millionaire' interactive learning widget unless I preview from that slide. Via any other method I get a loading mesage and then the screen goes white. I'd really appreciate any ideas about how to sort this one out! I thought it might be because I'm using the trial version

I have been having this problem for weeks now and I have not received a usable answer from anyone at Adobe. I have deleted the files that Captivate creates in the Interactions folder, as per instructions posted on this forum and restarted Captivate. I do this a couple of times a day. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But only those interactions not with the current date as the modified date show up in the Interactions options. Is it possible to stop Captivate from automatically checking for updates?

Your interaction dialog box looks very incomplete! It should show the content of the folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets  which is a copy of the folder you show in the Gallery, but with  backup files. If you suspect corruption, that is the folder to delete, not the one in the Gallery. If you use Insert, Widget you can browse to the folder in the Gallery which has the original interactions, as you can also browse to the old Widgets folder in the Gallery. This is not an answer to your question about preventing updates, just because I suspect you are confusing the Gallery folder with the folder in the Public documents.

I am not confusing the Gallery folder with the Interactions folder in the Public Folder. I only ever delete the widget files from the Public folder and never do anything to the files in the Gallery folder.

I have full administrator access to my stand alone computer. Today all the interactions are back in the menu again. But this is intermittent, tomorrow some of them may drop out again.

Just wanted to verify. Having full administrator rights is often confused with 'Run as Administrator' which is necessary for Captivate to get full functionality. Maybe you meant that when you talked about administrator rights? Upgrades are often pushed for the Learning Interactions, are you behind a firewall?

I can confirm that I have full permissions control of my system. I have also set Captivate to run as administrator just in case. I am behind a firewall but Captivate has full access through it.

These are my interactions today, with doing nothing but opening Captivate and starting a blank project.

The only widgets that show are those that do not have today's date as the modification date.

Only reason I can imagine is this: each time you are launching Captivate, it will be checking if there is no upgrade to the interactions and this checkup is blocked by your firewall. You can always insert an interaction by using Insert, Widget but the dialog box under Learning Interactions will only show those that didn't upgrade. Somewhere on the forum - but cannot find it - there is a workaround explaining how you can prevent the daily checkup. Now I will be ranting: why is Search so bad in this Jive forum.

I am very sorry not to be able to help you more. Mostly I will use the Insert, Widget way personally because the way the thumbnails are arranged in the dialog box is not consistent and it takes me more time to browse to an interaction than with the list that appears with the menu work flow.

Are you running Captivate with full Administrator privileges?

You need to run Captivate as Administrator, you don't need admin rights on the whole system, only for Captivate.
