Hi,
I am allowed to attend one training event this year. My choice is the Adobe Summit and DevLearn or the Online Learning Conference. Both offer Adobe Captivate training. The Online Learning conference even offers a 'certificate', but the session seem to be similar to those presented at the Adobe Summit. Any suggestions on what the difference is between the two events? Which one is better?
Thanks,
Peter

Maybe no one has an idea? I don't even know that 'online conference' you are talking about, I present at Adobe Learning Summit, not at DevLearn - but did in the past. To me the biggest advantage of a life conference is not the content (felt level going down compared with 4 years ago), but the networking. If that is not important to you, maybe you'd better choose for the online conference. Certificates are something I don't believe in, did see so many 'experts with certificates' that didn't even know the basics of a tool. Show me your work, tell me how you are solving some problems and I'll be able to judge your expertise, not with certificates. Sorry for that cynical note.

Lieve, perhaps you could expound a bit on how the networking aspect is beneficial? I see possibly making a new friend or two, or possibly just putting faces with names where you may have interacted via LinkedIn or the forums here, but are you maybe thinking about networking from the aspect of employment? I see networking as a valuable sales tool, but if all the attendees are already employed, unless you have something to sell them I'm not really understanding the value.
Cheers... Rick

Rick, I have been helping a lot more users in the 'walkways', with Captivate problems and made indeed a lot of new friends, than I ever did with presentations. My marketing skills are so low that I didn't even think about sales or employment tool, but that could certainly be a big advantage as well for smarter ones than me. I got a lot more friends than 'a new friend or two' although I am normally very shy. I also like the exposition (more than most presentation) as a place to talk with eLearning people, from company or not, and to exchange ideas and find new ways. All this is never happening with an online conference. But that is my personal opinion as wanted by the OP.
If it really about 'training' I am not sure any conference is the best investment at all. So much depends on your present skills level, on the type of eLearning you are involved with etc.

Hi All,
Thanks for this information. In my first post I am actually asking about two separate conferences: DevLean and a second conference called 'OnLine Learning Conference'. Both offer Adobe training. Both are at the end of September, one in Las Vegas and the other in Colorado. I was hoping for input on which conference is better to attend.
Thanks,
Peter
