Unable to stop drag and drop activity from resetting after visiting a reference slide and returning to activity

I'm having a problem in Captivate 8. I have a master content slide that I would like learners to have access to while going through a long series of drag and drop activities. The content slide is accessed via an advanced action and uses and additional advanced action to return learners to their previous activity. I have found no way to accomplish this and NOT have the drag and drop activity reset upon return. I've been all over the forums and I have tried playing with the reporting functions and the Quiz Preferences with no success.

I thought about creating an image of the content slide or a grouping of the items on the content slide to appear over the activity itself without jumping slides, but this information changes regularly and I would have to constantly update the images or - worse - the group of items. The final presentation will have dozens of activities and this doesn't seem like a best practice solution.

I've attached a graphic of the process below. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I feel very sorry but all learning interactions and the Drag&Drop

interaction at this moment are designed to be reset when you leave the

slide. I would also appreciate to be able to choose whether they are reset

or not and logged a feature request.

Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate what you're saying, but it looks like all throughout the captivate forums people are trying to find help for getting their slides TO reset. I'm having the exact opposite problem. If people are having trouble with slides not resetting, I'd like to know what setting they're using. In essence, I'd like that problem. Here's a thread that seems to outline my problem in reverse: Captivate 7 Drag & Drop On Failure action.

It looks like you even posted in that thread stating what you've just said here.

In that thread a user was having trouble getting a particular caption to appear in a D&D interaction - not my issue here, except one workaround was to use the custom caption's 'X-out' button to execute an AA that would jump the user back to a 'dummy' slide. Again, that's not what I'm looking for here except posters were commenting that once the user returned from the dummy slide the D&D was still NOT reset. This is exactly the result I WANT to reproduce.

Another user in that thread said:

"The D&D interaction will only reset if it is not included in the quiz.  When I unchecked the "Include in Quiz" box, it reset like I wanted it to.  The problem is I need it to be included in the quiz. "

Now, it sounds like if I "include" the interaction in a quiz it will NOT reset. I tried this before posting and I just tried it again. No luck. Thoughts?

It sounds like folks ARE experiencing D&D activities NOT resetting upon leaving a slide and coming back. I just need to reproduce that 'problem.'

Have you perhaps considered using an overlayer that could be called up by the learner WITHOUT LEAVING the drag and drop slide at all?

You could try placing grouped objects on one of the earlier slides and time them to be for Rest of Project, sitting above all other objects.  However, set the initial Visible in Output to OFF so that you can turn the group ON when you want via Advanced Actions.  You can vary what appears on that slide using variables and other advanced actions.

It will be a little tricky to make sure that this slide doesn't get seen inadvertently, but it would mean that your users can refer to the information they need without leaving and resetting the drag and drop slides.

Just a suggestion.
