Hi all,
I'm very new to captivate and spent sometime creating a test project and and fairly happy with the result. I would like to be able to adapt the 'text entry box' to record a large amount of text the user/student would record.
My questions are:
1. How do I set up a project so that the text in the text entry box is written by the student is able to be reviewed at any time? Once the project is finished can the student see what they have written?
2. Any ideas on what maybe the best tool in captivate to use for recording and reviewing long essay style answers?
TIA
Meaghan

Do not use Captivate for 'long style essay answers'! How will you judge such an answer? Look at the 'short answer' type of question and you'll see that only an answer that is identical to the answer you indicate as being correct will get a score at validation. I have been a professor in a college for many years, and I do not see any advantage in having an essay answer in an eLearning tool project. I asked my students to upload it to the LMS (in any form they wanted: Word, pdf...), but never embedded it in an eLearning module. Be sure: I developed a lot of Captivate learning assets for the students.
You could use the Scrolling Text interaction instead of the Text Entry Box, but both will limit the entry which is stored in an associated variable to the maximum amount of characters (used to be 256, should be lower now). You can always show the content of any variable by inserting it in a text container (caption or shape).
