What is the best way to translate a Captivate project?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone out there had a "tried and true" method for translating Captivate projects.  We have tried two methods to translate Captivate projects: the "Word" method and the XML method.

Using the Word method:

  • We export the project as a Word document.  The text in the document is styled the same way it is in the project.  (For example, if the text is orange with 20px font, it is orange with 20px font in the Word document.) There is a space next to each piece of text where the translator can add the translated text
  • Before we send off the document to the translator, we need to clean it up so that it is readable.  This typically means making all of the text black and the same size.  (Doing this unfortunately 'ruins' the styling.)
  • After the translator has added the translated text, we import the document into the project.
  • Finally, we have to go back and revert all of the styling back to the original styling.

Using the XML method:

  • We export the Projekt as XML
  • We use macros to create an excel table out of the xml that contains only the text we want to translate.
  • We use macros to create a xml doc out of the translated excel table
  • But unfortuanely, we cannot reimport this XML document...

So right now we are using this "Word" method, which is very time consuming.  Does anyone know of a better way to do this?
