Why are certain playbar options grayed out when a pretest is included in a module?

It makes no sense and means that I can't use a functional playbar in a unit where I want a pre- and post-content quiz. If I understood the logic, then I can make a decision on whether to break up modules or keep them together. The playbar is a very desirable but not when it doesn't have forward, back and fast forward buttons, and those are all grayed out.
