it's been awhile but if my memory is correct you only get a subset of playback controls if a course is branch aware. Is that the case here?

The logic is that you don't want some of the navigation controls that could take you past a certain branch of your course so they are disabled.

Hi Lifetime,

If I were a betting man, I would say you have modified this setting and saved it without those settings activated, previously

( "CoolBlue" Modified) I would load just plain old "Cool Blue" and see if that resolves your issue.

Cheers

Steve

Tried it. Tried changing to a different, default skin + save. Tried saving after un-checking the "show Playback Control"...still upon re-entry to set the default cool blue the following shows. Same for any other style. The same options are disabled:-(

Hmm.. I tried to recreate the bug on my end and I couldn't. Is this a Standard project or a Responsive project...not that, that should make any difference but when bug tracking any information is good.

I assume you have already closed down Captivate and restarted it fresh?

I did try that too.

Paul Wilson figure d it out. Apparently, when Branch Aware is set it disables the navigation features on the Playbar.

Thank you,Steve,for checking back

The mail I sent last night didn't 'arrive' in the forums.

For the sake of other users: for two Quizzing features Navigation by playbar and by TOC will be crippled. That is the case:

  1. For Branch aware as answered here. More details in Branch Aware Quiz - Captivate blog
  2. When inserting Pretest questions

There are reasons for that design, but this thread is long enough. Sorry to the OP that it took so long, wonder why the forums are sometimes accepting mails, sometimes not.

That is exactly what it is Paul. I had the options before, but was trying to have multiple quizzes despite the limitation that only a single quiz results slide can be in a project. I learned of the branch aware option from your video. In fact, was asking you how your Pass or Fail window was set because in my creative exploration, trying make it work before finding your video i changed things and couldn't remember what it was set to before.

I always have mine set for whatever percentage and My action is to exit the course regardless of pass or failure. It the student passes that's fine. If they fail, I want them to relaunch the course fresh so they can review the material again. Also if they launch a new iteration of the course and you're using multiple or random quizzes they will see a new quiz each time. Incidentally I also turn bookmarking off unless my client insists. My feeling is that if you failed the course you should start over at the beginning.

I agree with your logic. In my case, my project uses the first 60% to introduce a new product to 3 "back-office service" type departments. Then branching is set up so that from one slide, 3 buttons are available for the user to select their respective department. What follows is content specific to how that department will be impacted by the new product, followed by 3 graded quiz questions specific to each department...all filtering in to the same quiz results slide.  Tried skipping the score method by setting up an increment per correct answer (1), then setting advanced actions to show a quiz passed message if 3 or greater, or else  show a quiz failed message. Couldn't get this to work either as both messages displayed on the results no matter what.

Guess my next wish for Cp9.x would be the ability to include multiple quizzes with accompanying result slide - like the Quizmaker functionality of Articulate:-)

i used to work for Toronto International Airport and in some cases they had different procedures for employees who worked in Terminal 1 or 2. Branching came in handy for that. I used a show hide advanced action to give a custom message. Works like magic. Search for custom quiz results slide using advanced actions on YouTube.
