Why can't I create a project in Captivate 8 by uploading a PowerPoint presentation from PowerPoint 2013?

I'm new to Captivate, but it was sold to me as a good way of creating content using PowerPoint presentations I have already. However, I can't get any PowerPoint file or slide to load.

I’ve tried the simple ‘From PowerPoint’ button, and I get the following message:

I’ve also tried creating a Responsive Project and importing the PowerPoint slides into that, but the ‘Import PowerPoint’ option is greyed out. I’ve tried saving my PowerPoint both as .PPT and .PPTX file types, but that makes no difference. Any suggestions?
