I tried recording on 2 devices (iPhone 5s and iPad mini) with the same results: no audio. I'm recording a demo of an app that includes some audio, some video, but there is absolutely no sound in any case. Can anyone think of what I'm missing here? Or is this simply something that a device recording will not do?
Here are my settings:

Hi Robin,
The device audio playing from the App will not be audible while you are recording the device, but should be recorded in the .cpvc file you get out of the recording.
Here are few things you can try and let us know if the audio is not being recorded.
1.Launch Device Demo from MAC.(Clear preferences before launching Captivate)
2.Select Device Audio from the recording Menu.
3.Start the recording and record the App that includes Audio.
4,Click on Done to End the recording.
5.You should be getting the .cpvc slide out of it. Check for the Audio in Library.
The Audio should be in Sync with the video.
Thanks
Devraj

Hi Devraj,
Yes, I'd done all of those steps, but originally it did not play the audio. I quit the app and came back to the file 2 days later and sure enough, the audio that should have played before (but did not) now plays. Eh... it's a mystery.
Thanks anyhow.

I was referring to the Preference settings within Captivate (there are no applicable preferences in the Mac, nor for any device), specifically the Recording settings, electing "System Audio," the system in this case being that of the device content being recorded.

@Devraj I have a vague memory that clearing the cache removes all the special settings I've made for various templates. Did I just imagine this in a bad dream, or is it true? Thanks!

I think you're talking about Resetting the Preferences folder, not clearing the project cache.
However, even resetting Preferences shouldn't delete settings that are local to a given project file or template.

When you clear Preferences you will lose customisation, not when you clear the Cache. If you want to recover customisation, read this article:
