XML documentation?

Explorer ,
Dec 16, 2016 Dec 16, 2016

Since I started using Captivate two months ago, the XML import/export has been a puzzle. Can anyone point me to any significant documentation for the XML function?

It seems that many of the previous posts on this board with XML questions have gone unanswered or are quite old.

Using Captivate 9.0.2.437, I created a project with 3 slides containing 1 caption each with several hundred characters of text.

The XML export seemed uneventful. The XML file unnecessarily large as you might anticipate from a program like this.

Upon trying the XML import, a popup with the message - Cannot Import XML - appears.

I have never been able to successfully import any of the XML files that I have created.

Do I not understand the intent of the XML import function?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Kaitlin,

Create a document with one of the use cases for XML import and import.

For example, in your project, you have text captions in English. You export this project as

You export this project as xml. Send the xml to the localization team/person and ask him/her to replace English captions with any other language. The localization team/person need not have Captivate installed on their machines.

They just replace English verbiage with their local language.

They send back the updated xml and you import it. The text captions are automatically localized.

Thanks,

Saurav
