It is set as default in the preferences with good sound level.  It will record to Audition CC: Preferences WAV, 16 bit,  Stereo, 41KHz, volume level set on computer correctly on computer.  But it won't even test calibrate in Captivate CC 2015,

.. anyone had this challenge?

There is no Captivate CC at all, Captivate has never been part of the Creative Cloud.

Which version of Captivate and Audition are you using: exact version numbers, please!

Yes, sorry, was in too much of a hurry.  I am using Captivate 9.0 v.9.0.1.320  and Audition CC 2015.2  Thank you for your response.

What I do when I have a new microphone that I intend to use with Captivate is to press Shift + F8 to get into the Preferences window. From there I navigate to Recording / Settings and make sure that Narration is checked off. Click the Audio Settings button to reveal this window:

Because my laptop also has a built in microphone it's displayed in the Select drop down selection box. Make sure you have the correct Audio Input Device selected before clicking on Calibrate Input.

Thank you for the information. I had checked the Audio Input Hardware settings both on my PC and in Audition. But because of your pointing to the settings, I went back and looked at the sound levels again and default settings.  I just converted to Windows 10 a week ago and the new audio levels are independent now for input and output.  I had set the output, but did not check the input.  So, once I set the input level, it started registering in Audition.   Thank you so much for your response!
