Would it be feasable to re-purpose the Badges, using them for individual Quality Inspector Stamps, which are earned though successful training and used to sign-off inspected work?

Our business is the manufacture of a 10-place turbo-prop aircraft. Our QC Inspectors use stamps(FAA required) to sign-off inspections. Each inspector has a unique stamp (five different shapes which indicate structures, systems, in-process, final and specialty authorizations) containing a number specific to an individual. I'm envisioning the Courses would contain the required modules to gain the authorization for each particular type of stamp. I'm not sure how Captivate would manage the individual number inside the stamp.

Currently we are maintaining this in a mostly NOT user-friendly Access database. Much of which is still very manual.

Sounds like something you could do pretty easily. You could for example align the stamps to 'skills' and award skill levels as earned (these are based on accumulated courses) or you could award them for instances of courses (modules.)

a module can be anything - it could even be just a button, or similarly simple device. to assign a badge to a course - you generally associate it with the instance. So you would create a course composed of the module / or modules - save it as an instance - and in the instance settings, associate a badge.

Thanks Allen.

Related to this idea, is there a way within Prime to setup a course so that it must be retaken annually?

We want to use Prime to help manage inspector qualifications. Part of that qualification is a requirement to re-certify annually. So the ideal solution for us, would be if we could set up a user's status in one course (and therefore the corresponding inspection authorization) so that it expires on the anniversary date of when they most recently completed the course. It isn't the course itself that is expiring, but it is that user's completion of the course that is expiring.

This could also apply to any sort of annual training requirement outside of our population of inspectors.

Now that I've typed this all out, it is such an important feature, I'd bet Captivate Prime already handles this situation. Is that true?

Thanks,

Pete

Sure,

That's what a certificate does. Just setup the learning course or program, then create a certificate and select the annual 1 year requirement. You can add reminders for before, at deadline, after - as you prefer. You can also associate a badge with certification if that's all around the same goal. You can also make it 2 year or 3 year renewal if you prefer a different option.

Allen,

Since there are 5 different shapes that indicate what would be a course (Structure Authorization, System Authorization, etc.), but many numbers that indicate a specific person that has that authorization - the number being inside the shape - I would imagine that number would have to be managed outside of prime?

Example:
