Advanced Actions/Variables Still Learning

Hi all,

I am a bit green when it comes to variables and advanced actions and have pretty much taught myself through searching for videos and forums.

I am not sure if this is easier than I think, and maybe I'm overthinking it.  I have two buttons that I would like to use to toggle between 8 different states of an object (almost like a forward and back button) but for states instead of slides.

Is this easier than I think?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In sequence? You don't even need an advanced action, nor a variable. The simple command 'Go to Next State' or 'Go to Previous State' will do the trick. You have those commands also in the Advanced Actions.
