Captivate 2017 Issues in the Windows 10

Hi All,

We have recently upgraded to the latest OS, Windows 10, and since then, we're facing a lot of issues with Captivate 2017. Some of these include:

  • Fatal errors occur frequently, while working on the tool.
  • We cannot open two (multiple) captivate files simultaneously. If we do so, a fatal error occurs and the tool stops working.
  • Cannot work in captivate while the system is connected with LAN (Local Area Network).
  • Colour picking from colour palette is not working.
  • Cannot publish courses in Captivate.

Kindly, help us resolve the issues.

I am running CP9, CP2017 and CP2019 on two Win10 systems.

Couple of questions. Do you Run Captivate as Admininstrator?  Do the paths in Preferences, General Settings point both to folders on your system, not networked or external folders (which can be the case if you are using a Roaming Profile)?

Can you try to clear the Cache (there is a button in Preferences) and clean the Preferences? To clear the preferences you need administrator rights for the easy workflow: look in the subfolder 'utils' under the installation folder of Captivate, for the file 'CleanPreferencesWin.bat'. Run this file while Captivate is closed.

Yes, we do run Captivate as Administrator and all the paths preferences point to local folders.

We've also tried clearing cache and the preferences. But nothing seems to work.

Seems to be a conflict with someting on your system, difficult to guess what.  Since problems occur when connecting to a LAN, does it have a Firewall? Captivate tries to connect to the www to check if updates are available for the Learning Interactions.

In the past users have reported having issues due to some installed (corrupt?) fonts.
