Hi, just upgraded to Captivate 2017, can't seem to find the option to set a glow effect for objects such as shapes and images. I know there is a glow efect for text but what about objects? Any ideas?

There are a number of ways to make objects "glow" but each situation is different. If you create a shape used as a button you can have the down state or the rollover state appear different from the normal state. You can have a yellow stroke effect or use a shadow or reflection effect on (from the Properties Inspector).

Take a look at this video to understand how you can add a variety of multi-state object effects for drag and drop objects.

The Glow effect is still available but it is NOT compatible with HTML5 output. For that reason it is not  appearing int he Effects dialog box. You can find it under Other Effects in the Gallery (installation folder).

If you really think that is very important for the efficiencly of learning, there are several ways. It depends if you want to have a permanent effect, or one appearing in certain situations or for a limited time?  For permament Glow you could create such ane efect with a graphics editor like Photoshop, but know that you'll be limited to graphics format supporting partially transparent pixels, which means to PNG. For a timed effect you can use the glow in a multistate object and use an action to show it.

I just figured out that I can create a shape in PowerPoint, give a Glow effect, save it as a PNG file, and then insert it into Captivate as a picture.  I was going to give it an Entrance effect so that it pops a little more.  Kind of clunky, but it works.
