You'd probably get an answer faster if you posted the question on the Adobe Acrobat forum. People on this forum would not have much of an intimate knowledge of Acrobat.
To me the issue looks like you don't have the required font on your system.
Definitely a font issue. However, like all attachments, blow it away if the source is not known or contact the sender and tell them to resend it a plain text format. They can save their funky fonts for magazine design not for a resume.
