How do I remove the video progress bar, so users can't skip ahead?

Choose a different skin in the properties panel.

Thanks, but this doesn't seem to work. If I uncheck "Show Playback Control," it removed the playback control from the slide, but it still remains in the video. Show borders is also unchecked, and it is greyed out as well. Any other suggestions?

Thanks. That is what is already selected on my end.

Choose one of the skins that does not have the progress bar. There are several. I was just showing an example of where the choices were.

Thanks again for the response, but this doesn't work either. I can select a different skin, but when I save and publish, it does the same thing. Does Adobe have any support contacts who can help with this, or am I out of luck?

Are you publishing to HTML5?

Yes. I am also using Captivate 9, and a responsive project.

I think you will find that this playbar is actually provided by your web browser and not by Captivate. That's why it doesn't change.
Try viewing the same content in a different HTML5-compliant browser. What does the playbar look like then?

Rod, Thanks again for taking a stab at this. I was able to get a hold of someone at Adobe, and the solution was pretty simple. Rather than choosing Event Video, I chose Multi-Slide Synchronized Video, when inserting the video.

That's good to hear. But if you are publishing to HTML5, be aware that the behaviour for video playbars is sometimes device and browser dependent.

My mistake, I misunderstood and thought you meant for the whole project. In that case I refer you to duckworks or TLC. Sorry to send you in the wrong direction.

Where does the video come from?
How was it inserted to Captivate?
If it's a YouTube video you can explore their site to find a way to customize the embed code so there is no playback control.

The video is a MP4 and located on my desktop. In Captivate, I click on Media, and the box below appears. That's how I add it.

In this case, you are using Event Video, which is a little different. There are a series of skins available for you to select. These skins are a throwback to the SWF day of Adobe Captivate. Regardless of which skin you choose you will always see the same skin in HTML5 output like your screenshot above. My advice is to remove the play bar entirely so that learners will not be able to skip forward.
If you need to give your learners some of the controls, you can do so with Javascript commands and buttons of your design. Take a look at this video where I do exactly that.
