How to track time spent by user while taking course

All,

Is there an option in Captivate or LMS to track how much time spent by trainer during course learning?

We want to measure it.

In Captivate you can use the Timer or Hourglass Interaction. That will allow the learner to see the time. However transferring the value of the time to the LMS is not possible with this workflow.

You can also use the timing system variables to show time. You can store the value in user variables and if the LMS makes it easy to see the value of those variables that is an alternative. I used those variables in this blog post:

As for the LMS,  there may be a possibility as well but that depends on the LMS.

Just to give little bit insight into what we are planning to...

The main SCORM package course has sub sections. we wanted to capture time spent on each section in completion.

Do you think Captivate can do this since it may be tracking the completion status?
