Incorrect LMS Suspend Data / Tracking Data

We have run into an issue with HTML5 Captivate lessons giving proper completion credit on our LMS using SCORM 1.2 on several lessons.  I've been able to duplicate the error in this way:

1. Launch the lesson

2. Run through a few slides

3. Exit the lesson.

4. Launch the lesson

5. Exit the lesson without clicking on the "play" button

6. Launch the lesson

7. Complete the lesson

8. No completion credit is given.

Once something like this happens, the student is perpetually locked out of receiving credit for viewing the lesson.

Completion is based on clicking a button at the end of the lesson that says "Click Here to Complete the Lesson" (or something like that) and that button gives 100% to the score.

I was looking at the data our LMS receives from the lessons when this occurs, and this is what I discovered.

Orange text: The lesson location.  Notice how in Attempt 2 the lesson location reverts to a default of "slide".

Blue text: The first character in the suspend data seems to be based on the lesson location.  However, in Attempt 2, the character is missing.

Green text: This chunk of data seems to always have a hyphen when working correctly, but it doesn't have one when it's not working correctly.

Attempt 1: First time through to slide 3:

[core] lesson_location=Slide_3 lesson_status=incomplete,suspend score=0 time=0000:01:28.0 [core_lesson] C1A%24nP1A%24nP1A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP0A%24nP000AA0000C-1A0FSTTextEntryItem1VarBAQText_Entry_Box_1BATcpQuizInfoStudentIDBAVcpQuizInfoStudentNameAULName%2C%20FName%20L.QcpQuizHandledAllBA$_#-#_$ [student_data] tries_during_lesson=0

Attempt 2: After starting but not pressing play:

Attempt 3: After starting again and pressing play:

I'm assuming that when launching Attempt 3, Captivate couldn't parse the data from Attempt 2 because of the missing starting character, and thusly created a faulty suspend data for Attempt 3.  Notice in Attempt 3 that it seems all the pages have been flagged from 0 to 1 even though I only viewed up to slide 3 in Attempt 1 and only up to slide 2 in Attempt 3.  If I would continue and complete this lesson, the score would remain 0 and the status would remain incomplete.

I am using Windows 10, Captivate 11.5.1.499.  I've been able to duplicate this across browsers, too.

Has anyone else run into a situation like this?  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you check the same situations in SCORM Cloud to detect if the problem is with Captivate or with your lMS?

I tested the lesson in SCORM Cloud and followed the sames steps that causes the issue.  I was able to duplicate it in SCORM Cloud.

When exiting on the slide with the play button to start the lesson, the suspend_data is missing a character at the beginning.  The subsequent attempt then seems to not be able to parse the received suspend_data and causes a glitch.  All the pages are imediately flagged as viewed, and there is some other data that is changed that I'm not sure what it represents.

Here's are some links to the logs.

Attempt when I exited the lesson on the "play button" slide:   https://cloud.scorm.com/sc/guest/ViewDebugLog?logId=df7239bb-a15a-425b-a345-25eea3dd8b94&courseTitle...

Next attempt and ran through the whole lesson: https://cloud.scorm.com/sc/guest/ViewDebugLog?logId=6d8a7eb1-6c81-497f-9fc9-a70330dbdec4&courseTitle...

Thanks.

Sounds like you need to log the bug with the Adobe Captivate Support team.
