Hello!

I am new to Captivate and was wondering...what is your favorite thing about Captivate and why did you chose it over other authoring tools for e-learning?

Thanks!

Hey Kendral,

I have been using captivate since version 5 I believe. At the time, I found that the advanced actions you can do in the background were just amazing for customizing content and the user experience. For instance, whether it was capturing simple variables like a users name then being able to strategically place it through the modules, or creating advanced actions that perform 50 different functions at the click of one button.

I look at Captivate not as the sole tool, but the intricate house that the learning I develop lives within. For instance, I use Vyond to develop animations, Adobe Premier Pro and After effects to create awesome videos and Adobe Audition to undertake sound engineering on sound effects and vocals to go with the learning.

It now has the ability to develop virtual reality and 360 interactive images/video. There are just so many cool things you can use when you build your knowledge around how awesome it is.

All eLearning authoring tools have their pro's and con's, however there has just always been something about the simple complexity of Captivate that draws me in. Plus, I love that you can explode the properties/other panels as I have 4 screens on my work desktop so I have a timeline taking up one whole screen (which makes it so much easier to work with), my workstation on one and the other panels I love to use regularly on another monitor. I do love to customize. Hope that helps 🙂

Hello and welcome !...

I used to make my "animations" with Flash... But as it will become obsolete, I tried to find a new tool (html5 compatible) to continue my work on the net... I checked many tools and even tried some of them before coming to Captivate more than one year ago, after I've seen Dr Pooja demo on Youtube ...

And after this year, I'm very pleased to have chosen this one !... I'm really captivated by it !...

Captivate offers great and many possibilities and is for sure easy to use.

As I work for the primary school, my favorite use is Drag and Drop but I use also many types of quizzing.

(Don't loose your time on the widgets... They are not so great and you can easily create whatever your want without them !...)

But one of the best thing I found is the community on this forum (and on the net) !... You can ask everything here and "specialists" will try to help you within the hour !... I don't name them as I'm afraid to forget one of them, but you will see by yourself quickly !...

Have fun with Captivate !...
