I want to disable the next and back buttons on the playbar so that learners are forced to stay on that slide for x amount of seconds (usually matching audio length).  Is there a way to do that?

You can go into the Slide Manager option in Presenter. Then you can set the option for a single slide to Lock Slide: Yes. Alternatively you can select multiple or all slides, then click the Edit button and set the Lock Slides to Yes for the selected slides.

This disables all playbar functionality other than the play/pause button. Once the user as moved beyond the locked slide(s) they can then navigate the presentation as they desire.
