I have an old version of Captivate (not by choice) and cannot control how files publish files.  User guides all show an option for HTML5 or flash in preferences.  I also tried publish on the toolbar.  The only option was publish to computer but again, there were no options.  I was able to play it in Windows Media Player.  could not file save as or use any other options to change file type.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I don't have CP8 aymore, but if my memory is correct, it had th eoption to publish to HTML5, although the result is not as good as in more recent versions. I Use the big button 'Publish', to Computer. It should be something like:

Publish.png

Look at the setup above: in the first dropdown list choose HTML5/SWF.

Under the firelds make sure that HTML5 is selected. I always publish with Rescalalbel HTML content checked, but you can uncheck it if you wish a fixxed resolution.

If you were able to play in Media Player, you had chose to publish to  Video in the first dropdown list, which results in a MP4 file.

Hi Lilybiri.

Thank you for the quick reply!  As it turns out, publishing to HTML5 is an option for most projects but not for a cpvc file.

You didn't mention that it was a cpvc-file! A cpvc-file is a video recording tool it is normal that you can only publish to a Video format.  However you can insert a cpvc on a slide in a cptx file, which can be published to HTML5. That makes only sense if you have static content slides with interactivity, not for a passive video.

If you publish a cpvc to mp4 you can insert it also in a cptx project as 'Interactive Video' and add overlay content and KC-slides. Watch this example, which is made from a Video Demo:
