Hi there

Where on earth did you purchase? I ask because the software you purchased is really old. The company macromedia was purchased by Adobe back around 2005 or so. Since RoboDemo 5, the product was re-introduced as macromedia Captivate 1. Then along came Adobe and they improved it again and have created Captivate 2, 3, 4, 5, 5.5 and now they are at version 6.

Likely the activation is attempting to reach macromedia servers that are no longer in place.

Sorry, I do realize you just purchased it, but the only thing I can suggest here is to upgrade to Captivate 6.

Cheers... Rick

Hi There Rick

I purchased it on EBAY funny enough take a look here : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121024427157?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 i didnt want to pay full price for captivate as i only use it for my projects nothing commercial etc but as ive purchased flash 8 from the same seller before and had NO issues activating/registering with Adobe i thought it would be fine again i have been in touch with adobe they have told me to telephone them and they can sort it so ill give it a try but if not i guess i might have to shell out for the new upgrade one which adobe offers

You should have left the shiny plastic on the box.  What you had in your hands might be a collectors item one day.

I'd say you have little to NO chance of getting this product activated now because Macromedia is no more as Rick says.

I am also curious as to how you purchased it "genuinely".
