Why is the video plays along several slides in the background

Hi, 

I have added a Video, and I like to give the option to go to next slide before the end of the video, but if I do so - the video keep playing in the background

how can i stop the video once  i click on the "next" button?

Insert video as slide video, please, not as event video.

What is slide video?  or event video?

What i do is to add the media (video) to the slide

is there another way??

You have the choice in the Video dialog box.

Event video plays independent from Captivate and has its proper playbar. Slide video is synchronized with Captivate's slide timeline ans can be controlled by Captivate.

Unfortunately while trying to figure out what it is the bookmark and overlay i deleted  slides 😞

can they be recovered?

If you have Backup enabled in Preferences, General settings which is the default choice in 11.5. Is that the version you use?
