Do I need to make one long audio file for each character so that the audio stays on one layer in the timeline? Or can I add separate audio files for just one character. Is there a link to a video that explain back and forth dialogue between 2 characters in the same CA timeline? thanks

I prefer to keep my dialog in small "takes" where I can add the audio and then highlight the puppet that's speaking it in the timeline. This might be overkill, but this comprehensive video goes through the process of making a video where several characters are interacting: Complete Cartoon Workflow (Adobe Character Animator Tutorial) (youtube.com)
