Can I make a topdown character rig with walking animation for a game and export it frame by frame?

Hello everyone,

I stumbled upon Ch while looking into character rigging for games. I’m searching for a simple way to create character animations that I can export as frame-by-frame sequences for Godot. My game is top-down (similar to Binding of Isaac, Pokémon, Stardew Valley, Brotato), so I need 4-directional animations (front, back and both sides).

Is it possible to achieve this in Adobe Character Animator? I’ve had trouble finding tutorials or breakdowns for creating frame-by-frame animations in 4 directions without using pixel art, so any advice or resources would be greatly appreciated!

Character Animator is best used in situations where you need motion tracking and lip syncing to quickly create your animations. Adobe Animate, on the other hand, has export options for frame-by-frame and even sprite-based animations.

Adobe Character Animator isn’t ideal for frame-by-frame animations; it’s more for real-time puppeteering. For 4-directional animations, try Adobe Animate or Spine, which support sprite sheet exports for Godot.
