Cannot correct Compute Lip Sync Failed error

I imported two mp3 voice acting files into CA. One of the scripts will lip sync with the puppet, one won't.  I use the same lip synch process for both files. The two mp3 files were recordings taken of the same person during the same hour in the same room.

I have triple-checked the script, and it precisely reflects the voice actor's words.

Is there any way that CA can take its best shot and provide the voice acting as close as it can? I could edit the incorrect visemes manually--as long as it provided the correct lip sync for most of it.

Too bad CA won't highlight the words in the script that it thinks don't match the audio.

Thanks!

Actually, I just selected "Compute 2 Takes from Scene Audio, not knowing what it did, and it did, in fact, create the lip sync I needed. I have no idea why the menu option has that name.

Not long ago there was a Timeline option: Compute Lip Sync Take from Scene Audio.

That option has been replaced with Compute 2 Takes from Scene Audio, which is of no help whatsoever.

I take it this is using Transcript based lip sync? Are you using a plain text file or an SRT? The finer grained time stamps in an SRT (Pr can generate them from audio) have a few advantages. Since the words in the SRT are broken into smaller segments with timestamps, if one of them fails it's more clear what's going wrong and it is less to generate and patch in results from plain audio based lip sync (typically less precise, but will always produce _something_). The other advantage is that the shorter segments are easier and faster to align, so sometimes it will get a result even when trying to use transcript lip sync for all of the same text (with out timecoded segments) will get tripped up.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your reply. I copied and pasted the text into the Script field for both MP3 files. One worked, the other didn't.

But I got it to work. Thanks again for your time!
