Changing a puppets X and Y in position in the same scene

Hi everyone, sorry to be back again asking, but hopefully one day I can be answering too and helping others.

I have lipsynced my puppet and throughout the scene for the song I thought I was trying to keep it simple by just changing background images for different verses.

However are some verses I want to change my puppets X and Y position because it's in from of key elements in by background.

Every time I change the X and Y of my puppet it has the new position throughout the whole scene.

I then tried creating it on a camera timeline but that didn't work.

What is the best way? I could split my lipsync, verses, and backgrounds into separate scenes but this seems long winded and a step backwards. What is the best way?

You can place the puppet at different locations in the scene by setting keyframes on the timeline. Remember to add a second keyframe or else the puppet will "tween" from one set of coordinates to the next. This article explains how to do it: Animate using keyframes

Hi, a second keyframe straight after the new location? I've achieved what you said to avoid so far in that the puppet was sliding to the next background change. Great advice though, I'm almost there. 👍😀

To avoid the puppet from moving unexpectedly, put in a second keyframe or a keyframe with the previous x/y coordinates just before you place a new one. That way, the puppet's position stays in place until you're ready to change it.
