Changing character's hand colour on photoshop

Hi All,

Hope everyone is well. 

I'm trying to change the colour on my character's hand, but to no avail. I'm using colour overlay, however the colour completely overpowers the black outline of the hand and fingers (please see examples). Wondering if anyone could help please in changing the colour of the hand, whist keeping the original black outline.

I would suggest using "Multiply" to keep the black outline as it is.
