character animation camera problem

I have a sony a6400 connected to my pc through a camlink4k hdmi to usb plug in. it works fine in all other apps. only doesnt work in character animation.

i am using version 22.1.1 of character animation.

i am on windows 10 home 2019. 64 bit

i have tried different forums for answers and havent found any. thanks for your help everyone!

also tried obs virtual camera but this route doesnt even appear on the character animation video source selection list.
