Hi, I'm brand new to Character Animation so please be patient with me. Is there a way to have the character listen and not have the mouth move while the narrator talks?

Are you making a recording? The puppet mouth should not move unless you are recording and lip sync is enabled. Is the narrator being recorded separately from the puppet? Could you be more specific as to your work flow?

When using the app live, if you need to force a character to be "silent" you can assign a trigger to the "neutral" mouth shape and engage that when you want the mouth silent.
If it's not live, you can do a "compute lip sync from scene audio" and temporarily mute the audio you *don't* want your character speaking.

could you explain how to assign a neutral trigger?

1. Select the "Mouth" group that's holding all of your mouth shapes.
2. Right Click>"Create Swap Set" (you can also click the "+" symbol in the assigned triggers column of the puppet panel.
3. In the Triggers panel, click into the empty box next to "Neutral" and under the keyboard symbol.
4. Assign a key trigger (e.g., "S")
Now when you press the "S" key, the mouth will show the neutral mouth shape.
You can also turn this into a latching key trigger(a toggle) by clicking "Latch" when that trigger is selected.
