If Character Animator for Windows is crashes when switching between workspaces (e.g., between Record and Rig), we've become aware of an issue with recent NVIDIA display drivers (e.g., version 419.xx). If you have recently updated your NVIDIA display driver, the current workarounds are as follows:

  • Install an older version of the NVIDIA driver (e.g., 417.xx or earlier).
  • If you also have integrated graphics, try to force Character Animator to use integrated graphics instead of discrete graphics (NVIDIA).

We are working with NVIDIA on a solution, and will update this FAQ when an updated driver is available. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Updated Apr 11, 2019: The updated driver from the NVIDIA site (e.g., 425.31 for the GeForce GTX 960M) no longer causes Character Animator to crash. Please check the nvidia.com site for the latest driver for your GPU.
