This was huge for me. I dont know why this is but running Adobe CC App in the background while trying to use character animator really capped my frames in CH drastically. I was fighting this for months now before today. I was noticing my CH frames get worse and worse the bigger and more complex my project was getting. I randomly closed Adobe CC that runs in the background and my frames went from 18-20 to 35-40. Ofcourse I cap my frames at 24 fps though. Please try this if you are having issues. This has caused me lots of headache for a long time now.
Well after further investigation I opened Adobe CC app up again and my frames are still very high. I'm not quite sure what the app was doing but it was tanking my frames for the whole day. I dont believe it was downloading, updating or sycing anything but I can't be sure. Maybe this will still help someone still.
