The superior auto-lipsynching and ability to use triggers for facial expressions in character animator makes animating my cartoon character's faces so so much faster than adobe animate.
However, I still need to use adobe animate for basically everything else.
Is there a way for me to animate my characters heads in character aniamtor, and then import the head back into adobe animate, as a head symbol for my characters?

Hi, not sure if that is the best way, but should work. Animate your head in Ch. Do not enable face tracking; the head should stay in the same spot, just needs to speak. Add your triggers to blink, swap parts during recording. Make sure that your head does not move up/down/left/right. Only rotation around the neck is appropriate here.
Now make the neck and body invisible and export as the PNG sequence.
In Animate create a head symbol. Go inside a symbol and import the PNG sequence.
Exit the symbol and set the "looping" setting to play once
This will move animation inside the head symbol and it will move together with the rest of the character. This is why it is important not to move left/right when we record in Ch. If our head stays in the same place we just need to position it in the first frame and it will work.

One tip, when you create a head symbol make a circle, then position the center/bottom of the head to the center of the circle. This way when you rotate the symbol, you will rotate your head around the neck

Hi there, thanks for your input. Seems like an interesting solution that I will try!
The only thing that worries me is that the face would be exported as a .png file, because in my eperience .png files tend to look a bit funny when exported out of adobe animate.
If you have any other ideas I am all ears.
Thanks for that one
