Hello,
I am writing to inquire about signal quality coming out of Adobe Character Animator and going into a Blackmagic UltraStudio mini. I am getting rough edges around the puppet when attempting to key out the background. Please see the linked PDF for further explanation on my setup and equipment used.
Any help or suggestions you may have are greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

I was lucky enough to get ahold of person at Sienna (which makes the NDI Outlet app) and a person at Adobe. As it turns out there was a partial fix that adobe got to me that cleans up the edges, for the most part. On a chroma key this will now work very well using the Green background option in the NDI Outlet App. Using the dual link output still has issues but not as ugly. There is a slightly rough black border around the puppet. This issue seems to be between Adobe and Blackmagic and how

the screenshot you show has checkerboard background. If you are using keying, do you drop a solid green backdrop in? Keying off a checkerboard seems tricky.
Personally I avoid keying by exporting media using QuickTime/GoPro cineform RGB with alpha which preserves the transparency in the video format so keying is not required.
You might check the exported file resolution as well.
but I have no experience with your equipment sorry

Thank you for the reply. I'm attempting to layer a live output of Adobe Character Animator over another live shot of a video source (represented by the yellow fill). There won't be any rendering involved. The checkered background is just for illustration purposes, similar to working in photoshop or illustrator with a checkered background that implies an alpha channel area.
Thanks again,
Jay

I don't know the answer - but some suggestions. The question in my mind is whether the output resolution is low resolution causing the rough edges, whether it is because of lack of antialiasing support in CH, or whether something cannot keep up so it is down grading the resolution causing it to look more chunky (e.g. in Blackmagic).
Can you provide a screenshot perhaps showing the "rough edges"?

Hi Alan,
Thanks for your reply. There is a screen shot provided in the pdf that is linked in the original post (if the link works). Just have to let it load up and then scroll down.

Apparently AJA gear works as intended but BM needs some tweaking.

Ah, sorry. My mobile phone was progressively downloading the pdf - I had not scrolled all the way down. I think you got the experts to look. But yes, looks like a keying issue rather than CH core puppet manipulation.
