Motion library settings

Hi,

I am using motion library on a puppet. My issue is that when I add a movement I also need to tweak the settings to make the 2nd movement work on the puppet. What I find is that when I fine tune, say, ballet and then add a jump, the changes I do to the jump are reflected on the ballet. For example, let´s say I want the feet to keep in place in the ballet, so I desactivate the controls on the feet. But then I want to it to jump, and I activate them. When I go back to the ballet, the feet are activated also there.

How can I change settings of each movement without affecting the others?

Thanks

A general Character Animator recording workflow (not just Motion Library) is

  1. Set "Enable Parameter Recording" for the parameters to be stored in recorded takes
  2. Change those parameters
  3. Record (and change those parameters during the recording if desired)

In your specific scenario, what you do is

  1. "Enable Parameter Recording" for Left Knee, Left Heel, Right Knee, and Right Heel in Motion Library > Tracked Handles
  2. Uncheck Left Knee, Left Heel, Right Knee, and Right Heel in Motion Library > Tracked Handles
  3. Select Ballet
  4. Record
  5. Check Left Knee, Left Heel, Right Knee, and Right Heel in Motion Library > Tracked Handles
  6. Select Jump
  7. Record

(see my attached video)

You may also want to select the recorded takes from the ballet, right-click, and then "Create Replay and Trigger" so you now have a special Ballet you can trigger easily with less clutter in the timeline.

The confusion may be that Motion Library is designed to embed its basic parameters to recordings by default, but not the ones under Tracked Handles and Advanced. Most other behaviors do not embed parameters by default at all and you need to explicitly enable them for recording.
