Nutcracker jaw distortion with head tilt

Using this tutorial: https://youtu.be/IKQi3Anuhlc?t=273I got the nutcracker jaw working, but there’s a problem - the character has a “Face” behavior attached to it with Head Tilt strength set to 25%. The character gets distorted when you tilt the head because the jaw does not move with it. So, the top portion of the face and the jaw look disjointed (see the screenshot) when the character tilts it's head. Is there a workaround for this, ideally to make the jaw tilt as well?

I assume your jaw is independent? Have you tried with it not independent?

second, if you want to keep it independent, try moving the attach point to the middle of the face. Or put sticks along the face jawline to stop in bending.

My guess is what is happening is the lower part of the face is bending less than the upper part, so it is bending at a different rate. I think you need either to stop the bending (Eg make whole head independent) or make the jaw bend with face (make jaw not independent).

Thank you, that (more or less) fixed it. Marking the jaw not independent worked for me, although the jaw still gets distorted during head tilts, the distortion is less than it used to be and the jaw doesnt look disconnected.nutcracker_jaw_head_tilt_distortion2.jpg

You can reduce distortion a bit by using sticks along the jawline sometimes, or horizontal under the chin. Then can be used to somewhat control where things flex vs don't flex.
