Post with Transparent Background AND use Adobe Express for Vid Overlay

I'm trying and failing to import a video with transparent background to overlay on another video in Adobe Express.  I've tried using Media Encoder about 8x with various permutations of a .MOV file using Export with Alpha via Media encoder and then choosing Alpha Prores 4444 with Alpha (I've tried Prores 4444 regular too, and other settings).  Every time I drag my huge video file into Adobe express over another video it renders out with a black background.  Is there a bug in Express?  Do I have to use Premier Pro to utilize transparent background or is it not rendering properly.  I'm completely baffled here.  Thanks folks!

I don't have a great deal of experience with Adobe Express, but your theory about using Premiere (or After Effects) sounds logical.

I'd use a different word than logical - frustrating in typical Adobe fashion because it "should" be easy and it "should" work and if it is the case it's just wrong that they didn't take time to make it work (as usual) + there is no documentation (as usual) and no satisfying outcome.  Thanks for letting me vent, but this type of thing has been going on for years now.

Vent away! I completely agree. I came here hoping to find an answer to the same problem. You'd think you could drag and drop. Their AI does a crap job of trying to remove the background as a workaround, too, to top it all off.

Agree 100%!  Adobe should be a synonym for apathy.  And to continue the venting, all of adobe's background removers STINK - even on seemingly simple obvious things with clean monochromatic backgrounds.  It should be embarrassing but I suspect Adobe does not care.

Update, transparent backgrounds generated from Character Animator DO work in Premier Pro, but not in Express.  Sigh, typical Adobe awfulness
