Long time since I've worked on this project but here goes. I modified a puppet in Illustrator. The puppet was placed in a scene. At the time, all was well but now the puppet loses a limb in the scene. No idea what happened. Ideas?
Sorted. I retrieved the whole project from the external storage and its all working, apart from a lost link to an audio file which comes from the Character Animator Example Assets folder which I cannot find. Lost when the files were copied from the original external storage to the network location (please don't scream - I know that was a bad move but had no option).

Could you share a screenshot of the puppet's rigging? I'm guessing that there's something misbehaving in the hierarchy.

Hope this is what you're asking for.

Hmmm, nothing is standing out. It is curious that you have the layer under L Foot labeled "Normal" while the layer under R Foot has a duplicate name. I do not know if that duplication is confusing the program or not. I also do not understand the purpose of the hidden layer "PiPiSA"

Thanks for your thoughts. I have changed the name of the layer under R Foot to Normal so they both match. PiPiSA is a text layer across the chest and has been hidden because it was no longer needed. Unfortunately, the changes didn't fix the problem. Perhaps the project is corrupted in some way.

If you are no longer using a layer I would recommend deleting it to improve the efficiency - the program will continue to process layers even if they are hidden. I'm sorry that I cannot figure out why that layer is not appearing in the scene. It's possible that the program has placed the object far away from the rest of the puppet and it just needs to be dragged into place, but I doubt it. It might just be the best use of your time to re-import the puppet and rig it again.

Thanks for your thoughts. At this point I am suspecting a corrupted file. A couple of scenes are damaged worse. The file was transferred from another computer some time ago so possibly some resources are missing. I still have access to that computer's external storage so will see if I can retrieve the data.

And just found the Example Assets. Phew.

Problem solved. Project behaving as expected, and once I relinked all the assets that had been lost in the move, the project is also loading faster. Win win 🙂

That's great news!
