I do not do performance capture. Most of my work... 30+ years has been with Aftereffects. I need to be able to keyframe the entire animation.

there seems to be no way... either because there IS no way, or... it's just not documented where it can be readily accessed... to keyframe the position of handles in a rig.

this renders the rest of the features in Character animator completely useless to me. as nice and desirable as they are.

also: write it down. if you have an urge to make a video tutorial about something... write it down in the documentation first. Videos often have minutes and minutes of non-helpful 'content' for people trying to answer a single question. if it's that important that you think it deserves a video... write it out in the documentation first.

It is possible to keyframe individual handles in Ch, but it's not really designed to be used that way. AE is much better set up for that. Ch is better for performance capture. You can mix the two by using Ch for parts, and then dragging the Ch scene into AE, which uses dynamic link to avoid rendering.

See https://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-character-animator/using/keyframes.html for keyframing

See https://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-character-animator/using/behaviors/utility.html#Transform for information about using the Transform behavior to control individual handles (by tagging each handle with a Transform tag, and applying multiple Transform behaviors). Normally the Transform behavior moves the entire group it is applied to, but if you tag one or more handles within that group, it will move them (all together) instead. Keyframing the Transform properties is similar to AE.
