check existing email beside form field

I'd like to do a registration form, with an ajax email check, to ensure the user does not exist.

Still, I have no idea where to begin from...

Start by reviewing the CF documentation on AJAX.  Then try some code.  If you run into problems create a new question and include the code you have tried and any error messages you receive.
