Oracle has released the final Java 6 Update 39 last week, marking the end of support for Java 6. Adobe has stated multiple times that Java 7 would be supported before EOL, yet it has been a week and still no patches or update. Does anyone have an ETA when Java 7 will be officially supported?

The EOL for Java 6 was extended until the end of February by Oracle, which has also given Adobe some extra time to produce and test the update.

I have applied the CF10 update 8 to our development system along with jdk 7u15. We'll see what happens as we test it.

Help! I cannot find a 9.0.2 updater -- only the full installer which requires the removal and reinstallation of the software. Is there an updater somewhere?

Steve 9.0.2 is not an 'update', it is the same as CF 9.0.1 but without verity (and includes many hotfixes), because Adobe can no longer distribute verity that is the only version you can download now for CF9. So there is no reason that you would need to uninstall CF9.0.1 and install 9.0.2 that I am aware of, just update your 9.0.1 install.

Sorry, still confused. I have 9.0.1 currently running on several servers (18+). Will these current 9.0.1's run with Java 1.7.x or do I need to install 9.0.2?

Has Adobe updated all current Java and ColdFusion KB articles yet, so I don't have to assume that when Java 7 Update 16 is released that we can apply it assuming we have the base Adobe patches that support Java ?. I also have seen some confusing articles about JDK vs JRE, for example Ben Forta's blog post yesterday Upgrading ColdFusion To Java 7 at http://forta.com/blog/index.cfm/2013/3/3/Upgrading-ColdFusion-To-Java-7
Ben, the Adobe website states JDK is required, not JRE "Download and install JDK 1.7." http://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/kb/coldfusion-10-update-8.html and "Note that ColdFusion requires the Java HotSpot Server virtual machine (jre/bin/server/jvm.dll), which is not available with the JRE download." http://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/kb/change-coldfusion-jvm.html
PS +10 to Carl's question "Will CF9 or CF10 be supported on JDK 8? JDK 8 release expected September 2013?", I would like Adobe to state ColdFusion upgrade plans and timetables for new versions of Java. Java 7 was released over 18 months ago and Java 6 received several end of life extension both without Adobe updating ColdFusion untl the last possible second!

Today (March 14,2013) I downloaded and intalled CF 10 Update 8 to our Win 2008 64-bit server. From what I understood since March 5, the updater would have updated the JRE to 1.7.0_15; however, the java version on the summary page states my server is still on 1.6.0_29 while my CF version is now at ColdFusion 10,284032. Could anyone provide some input as to what my next option is... to ensure I am on Java 7?

Ensure you have update 8 installed - Version 10,0,8,283965.
Donwload JDK (not JRE) 1.7.0_17 from the Oracle Java downloads page. Install it on your server.
Update the Java and JVM Page in CF administator to point to the newly installed Java (in Windows at C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.7.0_17/jre).
Then restart ColdFusion.

The version you pointed out was the initial version of updater 8 (10,0,8,283965); whereby, within a week Adobe posted a minor update around March 5th (10,284032). So, yes I have the most recent version.
Regarding your suggestion to install Java 7 and configure it to operate independently may defeat the purpose of the updates provided by Adobe. For example, let's assume 1.7.0_18 will part of Update 9 for CF 10 sometime in April this year. Would the CF updater know update java since I would pointed to the manual installation of Java?

Thanks for letting me know there was a later version of hotfix 8.
I have yet to see a hotfix contain a Java update. Java is included in a major install or upgrade as in ColdFusion 9 to ColdFusion 10. I always get the Java updates from the Java web site and install them myself.

Peter, The new CF10 installer that supports Win8/2012 has Java 1.7.0_15 built in. Regards, Carl.

Hello,
The ColdFusion 10 Windows installers available for download after March 5 2013 include Java 7 Update 15. Therefore, you can ignore the steps to configure an external JDK unless you want to upgrade the JDK to a higher update level.

Anit Kumar

To be clear... only the installers include the JRE while the updates would not?
