Coldfusion Server Spec

Explorer ,
Aug 14, 2008 Aug 14, 2008
Hi,

I've been asked to spec a new server to install coldfusion, could anyone point me in the right direction?

I have no experience of building servers, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

matthisco - what are you going to do with the server? How many transactions per second do you expect it to handle? What OS are you going to use? 64 bit?

The minimum server I build these days is a dual socket, quad core system with atleast 4 (if not 8)GB.

Disk performance will be important to how fast the server will operate. Will you run it on local disk or off a SAN/NAS? If I build a system that isn't going on the SAN/NAS infrastructure, then I make sure to have a good RAID controller and blazing fast disks (15krpm if I can get them).

But this is also to server a large enterprise audience. Your milage may vary.

Thanks for your replies.

Its going to be an intranet to serve around 350 users. This is the setup I have so far:

Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
2 x 2.6 GHz Processors
1GB RAM
15GB C: Drive

Bump that memory to 2 or 4GB if you can. 1GB is going to be tight.
