Hi All,
This may be out of the topic here, but I don't know where else to put this one. I'm looking for help especially those who have developed before a farsi app. Or could be anyone. I just want to know informations on the Persian/Farsi calendar system. Example:

1. How many year difference is a persian calendar from a gregorian?
2. How many months does a persian calendar have during a) leap year b) not leap year? Or what are the characteristics during leap year and during not leap year?
3. Are there 7 days in a week? What is the first day of the week? Is it still Sunday like gregorian calendars?
4. How many days are in each month? Is it like the gregorian where some have 30 days and others have 31, and february has 28 or 29 days?
5. How do you read physically a persian calendar? From what I know, farsi reads from right to left. So, does the first day of the week starts from right as oppose to gregorian(which we normally use) which starts from left? And, assuming there are 7 days in a week, is it grouped in 7 days, then the next date goes t next row and starts from right again?
6. What are the date formats? Example, in gregorian you have, mm/dd/yyyy (using the slash), mm-dd-yyyy(using dash or hyphen), yyyy-mm-dd, etc. Is it the same with Persian calendar? What are their formats and what is the common format they use?
7. Do they have something A.D. or B.C. in Persian calendar?
8. How about the time? In persian, is it 24 hours a day, 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute?
9. What are the time formats? Is it hh:mm:ss? Do they have A.M. or P.M.? What is the common time format they use?

Any infos on the date and time for Persian calendar is much appreciated. Thanks.

(note that the stand alone testbed has gone missing so use the following)

calendar from the drop down)

if the java's too much to handle, some iranian cf students sent me a pure cf
version several years ago. not sure how accurate, etc. need to dig up the code.
