ESMTP vs. SMTP

New Here ,
May 04, 2006 May 04, 2006
I am using CF 4.5a. and a Windows NT 4.0 server to send Cold Fusion generated emails. I know... archaic. All was working perfectly until my hosting mail server got changed to an ESMTP protocol. The emails I am sending are using an SMTP protocol being received correctly by the ESMTP server. But when the handshake comes back using the ESMTP protocol...the local system's SMTP doesn't understand the ESMTP reply. What is the resolution? Do I need to upgrade Cold Fusion to 6.0/7.0? Do I need to upgrade the operating system to Windows 2000? Do I need to upgrade the IIS? What?
