Installing CF8 over CF7

New Here ,
Mar 04, 2008 Mar 04, 2008
I currently have Coldfusion MX 7 installed on my computer and recently purchase Coldfusion 8. I wanted to verify what is the proper way to install Coldfusion 8?
1. install Coldfusion 8 over Coldfusion MX 7
2. Install Coldfusion MX 7 and install Coldfusion 8

Thank you!

It *should* work fine if you install CF8 over your current CF7 and I
think 90% of the time it is fine. But I have read many posts about the
headaches users have experienced that small percent of the time when it
is *not* fine.

If you are not concerned about migrating CF7's settings and
configurations into CF8, it maybe slightly safer to uninstall CF7 and
install a clean CF8.

I have same kind of installation and the only problem that I have is the system resources. :)

They seems to work but I do not suggest having both on same box if you do not have a gigantic one.

I will reinstall my OS etc. and a clean CF8 only, whenever I find some time.
